A Sweet Legend Brought to Life 🕰️

The story goes back to 1812, when Napoleon’s personal cook, wounded and grateful, shared a special recipe with a Czech woman who cared for him in Hořice. That recipe evolved into the rolled wafer we love today.

In the late 19th century, local pastry chef Karel Kofránek perfected the technique and even patented an early machine for wafer baking. Though production was interrupted in the 20th century, handmade Hořické trubičky returned in full force in the 1990s—and they’ve been winning hearts ever since.
