Yeast buns (buchty)
You add: 2 egg yolks, 75 ml of vegetable oil and 250 ml of milk.
Add the egg yolks, vegetable oil, lukewarm milk and the enclosed yeast to the mix, knead a smooth, non-sticky dough and let it rise for 30-60 minutes. Roll out the dough, cut it into squares and put filling of your choice on each one. Press the edges together and place the buns seam side down on a greased baking tray. Brush with melted butter, let them rise for 10 minutes and bake at 180 °C for 25-30 minutes.
Homemade rolls
You add: 300 ml of lukewarm milk, 1 egg yolk, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, an egg for brushing, salt, poppy seeds or caraway for sprinkling.
Make a starter from a little warm milk, a spoonful of the mix and the enclosed yeast and let it rise for 10 minutes. Add the egg yolk, the remaining milk, the butter and the starter to the rest of the mix. Knead a smooth dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes. Divide the dough into 10-12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a roll, divide it into 3 strands and braid them. Place the rolls on a baking tray lined with baking paper and let them rise for 30 minutes. Before baking, brush the rolls with beaten egg, sprinkle with coarse salt, caraway or poppy seeds and bake at 180 °C for about 15 minutes until golden.
